In prime time on France 2, Tuesday May 13 at 9:00 p.m.
With the aim of discovering who we are and where we come from, “Slavery in search of origins” invites 5 French personalities, including Kalash, Joey Starr and Stefy Celma, to trace their family tree back through the terrible history of French slavery and the slave trade. Their family’s destiny is that of the 4 million men and women enslaved between the 16th and 18th centuries. It also confronts the families of shipowners, slave traders and slave owners. Alternating itw, archive footage, fiction and in situ sequences, and the words of well-known and anonymous witnesses, this ambitious film allows us to revisit this painful history.
