Run against time, the Snowman Race in Bhutan

Snowman Race in Bhutan is the toughest Alpine Trail race in the world (altitude over 4,000 meters, over 210 km). In October 2024, this ultra-marathon gathered 30 top athletes from around the world and from Bhutan. Battling hypoxia as they ran through the harsh terrain, they used compact cameras to record what they were seeing and feeling, including the reality of global warming. Melting Himalayan glaciers are raising water levels in glacial lakes amplifying the risk of destroying people’s homes and livelihoods.

This unique film retraces for the first time on television this 5-day Ultra trail race and conveys the athletes’ powerful words sharing the little-known reality of global warming.
